Notes: Because of its thick, corky, fire-resistant bark, Byrsonima crassifolia is one of the few trees that can successfully survive the seasonal, anthropogenically maintained fires that sweep through the Rupununi savannas of Guyana and the Sipaliwini/Zanderij savannas of Suriname.
