Notes: The Trio name for caterpillar is ërukërukë. This name is applied by Trios to a variety of small tree species with fruits that resemble caterpillars. Historically, across both indigenous and rural Afro-descendant groups in the Guianas, the seeds of Cymbopetalum species were dried and used as a aromatic condiment or added to local traditional remedies due to the presence of highly fragrant essential oils and tonics in the seed coats.
